Like everyone else, we must recognize that our business has an impact on the environment. Both through our own operations and indirectly via our customers and suppliers. We want to take responsibility for our environmental impact. We must commit and be incorporated into the day-to-day operations, and contribute to O.B.Wiik being a clear contributor to good solutions in environmental work within our industry.

Circular economy through rental of fabric-buildings and tents.
An increasingly large part of our fabric-buildings and tents are rented out when we get customers who have temporary needs. In this way, the total production is reduced considerably. It also gives customers advantages, both in terms of flexibility and low capital commitment. And for us, it means that through a more optimized operation, we can limit the number of tents and buildings by distributing the existing products more efficiently. Overall, it creates a lower Co2 footprint and is more sustainable, both for the environment and the economy, when we can circulate our rental products.

Environmental considerations incorporated into the business
In order to follow up and commit ourselves to environmental work, we have created an effective environmental management system. This entails an obligation to continuously improve the environmental conditions and our CO2 emissions, and to comply with the authority’s requirements and the requirements that we in O.B.Wiik have imposed on ourself.

And here, no one escapes. All of O.B.Wiik is bound by the environmental policy. All units in the group must assess their relationship with and impact on the environment, and include environmental conditions in all governing documents where this is relevant. It also means that environmental and climate issues are emphasized in business and service development.

A long service life means less emissions
We make active choices to extend our products lifespan. Our aim is that a product we make should last a long time. The quality of what we deliver means that the products can be left in exposed areas for a long time. Not only is it good for you as a customer, but also for the environment. But it also means that when a customer has finished their product it can be reused, or turned into another product with a new application.

We mainly use aluminium, steel and PVC in our production:

  • Aluminum
Aluminum is a highly environmentally friendly product as it can be endlessly recycled without losing quality. Around 75% of all aluminum that has ever been produced is still in use and little energy is required to remelt it for new purposes.
  • Steel
Steel requires more energy to make, but in return has a long lifespan. Nearly 90% of the steel we use are standard modules, which are reused in new projects. Non-standard modules are recycled into other products.
  • PVC
The PVC we supply are approved according to the REACH standard. The quality of the PVC is among the best on the market and lasts a long time. A stationary fabric building will typically have a lifespan of 20+ years, while a rented work tent will have between 5-7 years of durability.

When a customer is finished with a PVC sheet, we clean them, cut them up and weld them into new tarpaulins that we offer for sale in our online store. By upcycling used PVC sheets into “environmental tarpaulins”, they get a new and longer life.

Recovery, reuse and recycling
Our main focus is to reduse our environmental impact in terms of waste and energi consumption, and applying as environmental friendly materials as possible. Our main role is to direct our customers, collaborators and subcontractors to make decisions that are beneficial for the environment. Therefore we promote reuse, resales, rental and repairs instead of aqquiring new products.

When a product has passed its expiration date, we recycle the used PVC into tarpaulins, or transfer them to our partners who produce new products. Non-reuseable products are sorted and treated as special waste. This is how we continuously work at O.B.Wiik to create a sustainable business that preserves our planet today – and for the future.
