Transport And Capacity
How many MT can be stored in WiikHall 10 x 24 and 10 x 32 meter, and how many tents can be packed in one 20-foot container?
According to logistics experts at the World Food Programme, this depends on the types of commodities involved and not least on the knowledge of the local personnel who actually load goods into the building.
WiikHall 6,5 x 8 m
Fifteen Wiik Aluminium Marquees of 6.5 x 8 metres can be packed in one 20-foot container. These structures are often used for storage to supplement large relocatable warehouses, and frequently in connection with the distribution of food to school projects.
According to logistics experts at the World Food Programme, about 50 metric tonnes can be stored in a Wiik Aluminium Marquee of 6.5 x 8 metres. These structures can be extended in four-metre-long section in any desired length. One measuring 6.5 x 16 metres will have a storage capacity of roughly 100 metric tonnes.
WiikHall 10 x 24 m
When planning capacity, the World Food Programme calculates that about 350 metric tonnes can be stored in a building of this size. That figure can be increased to 500 tonnes in critical emergencies. The capacities described above are based on storing sacks of grain and food blends such as corn soya blend (CSB), dried skimmed milk (DSM) and the like.
WiikHall 10 x 32 m
When planning capacity, the World Food Programme calculates that about 500 metric tonnes can be stored in a building of this size. That figure can be increased to 750 metric tonnes in critical emergencies. The capacities described above are based on storing sacks of grain and food blends such as corn soya blend (CSB), dried skimmed milk (DSM) and the like.
O.B.Wiik recommends that the buildings are not filled beyond the capacities cited above, since this can cause damage both to the fabric covers and to the structural framework.
