Noreps

O.B.Wiik belongs to the Norwegian Emergency Preparedness System (Noreps). This is a partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB), humanitarian organisations and manufacturers of emergency response equipment.

Noreps contributes emergency response personnel and equipment stocks to support relief efforts in international crises. The main recipients of goods through the system are UN agencies and Norwegian or international humanitarian organisations.

The goal is to be able to respond quickly to emergencies with the necessary people and materials. Stockpiling and standby schemes make it possible to have equipment and supplies airborne within 24 hours.

Over the past 20 years, O.B.Wiik has delivered relocatable buildings to a number of UN agencies such as the World Food Programme, the UNHCR and Unicef, and to Norwegian and international voluntary organisations.

The company's products are currently being used in more than 80 countries across four continents.

In addition to the central warehouse outside Oslo, O.B.Wiik relocatable buildings are stockpiled in Norway, Italy, Panama, Ghana, Uganda, Dubai and Malaysia. This permits rapid response to emergencies such as earthquakes, famines, floods and war.

Run by the UNHCR in cooperation with the World Food Programme and the Ethiopian Agency for Returnee and Refugee Affairs, it receives 400 new Somalia refugees every day.
